I could make myself crazy trying to figure out what veggies should go where in my garden. Of course I want the best possible veggies I can get and at the same time, I’m really new to vegetable gardening. I had no idea that you shouldn’t plant summer squash near potatoes. Or that you should not follow peppers with tomatoes, eggplant or potatoes. Last year I sort just went out there and planted what I wanted where I wanted, when I wanted. I had veggies, yet. But could they have been better? Could I have gotten a larger crop? We’ll never know I guess.
This is the sort of thing that will cause me to lose sleep at night. Not 8 hours of sleep, but maybe 30 minutes while my brain envisions pole beans overtaking my broccoli. So, in preparing for this season’s garden, I’ve been trying very hard to make sure every little veggie is near a great fellow veggie companion. On top of that, I’ve tried to rotate crops efficiently. Some folks will tell you it really doesn’t matter. Maybe that’s true. Or maybe it’s NOT! You decide.
I created a quick veggie reference guide to help me out (OH YES I DID!). Feel free to download it and use it for your own veggie garden.
