Remember When

May 15, 2006

I’ve caught myself the last few days, remembering where I was or what I was doing one year ago.

One year ago on Friday, it was my last day of work for over 2 weeks and I was a frazzled bitch.

One year ago on Saturday, I made my final payment to the hall.

One year ago yesterday, I headed west toward Sherri to get my cookies and cake.

One year ago today, I was getting new fun hair.

One year ago tomorrow I was printing and cutting and assembling all of my programs.

And the list goes on and on and on.

It’s amazing to me how quickly this year has gone and how wonderful it’s been.

We still get the “how’s married life” questions and “is the honeymoon over yet?” remarks.  I won’t miss not hearing them anymore.  I don’t miss the stress and the craziness of planning and coordinating the biggest party I’ve personally ever thrown.  I don’t miss the dress appointments with my bridesmaids and the phone calls telling me what shoes they want to wear, what flowers they want to carry and what shawl they’ll sport on the way down the aisle.  I don’t miss the shuffling and the arranging of appointments and meetings and three-way phone calls.  I don’t miss the anxiety and the waiting.  I don’t miss the taste testing, the sample flower centerpieces, the must-take-photo-lists and writing the ceremony.  I don’t miss feeling panicked over last minute cancellations or finishing up and delivering my Out-Of-Town boxes.

I miss none of it.  Right after the wedding was over, I really mourned my wedding planning days.  While they don’t sound all that great from what I said above, they were some of the best days and when you’re completely enthralled in planning a wedding 24/7 and then go to doing NOTHING, it’s a big adjustment and I definitely felt sad that that part of my life was over.  I thought I would feel that way forever.

Now, today, I’m not sad anymore.  I don’t miss it like I did the first two months or so, after the wedding was over.  Today, I have my memories and they will never fade.  Plus, they come without the stress and aggravation, so it’s a total win/win.

These Litter Chests are such a neat idea.  We’ve been trying to come up with a plan for the litter box in our new house and this seems like it would be a perfect fit.  Discreet, yet it does the job perfectly.  We’ll be adding this to our list of things to get for the new house.
