As the Boobie-Thon draws near, there are lots of things to coordinate. I’m still in the process of getting emails out to volunteers, so if you are waiting, it will come. But first I wanted to discuss this year’s Bloggers-Helping-Bloggers portion of the event.
Robyn made it clear a long time ago that she was only going to coordinate this event if it retained the original spirit of the very first Boobie-Thon. I made the same promise when I put in my application to adopt the Boobie-Thon and I sincerely meant it.
So, the first $359.00 raised in this year’s event (lets hope we raise that much and more!) will go to the Bloggers-Helping-Bloggers portion of the event.
This is where you come in!
What charity’s should be considered? Do you know of a blogger you needs help? Let us know by leaving a comment or sending an email.
The deadline for submissions will be Wednesday September 19, 2007. Once we have all of the charities submitted, I will be asking this year’s volunteers to vote. The selected charity will be announced on Monday October 24, 2007.

Any charity that a blogger is involved in, supports, or hits close to home.
For example, last year’s charity was Boston Children’s Hospital.
This charity was selected to honor Baby Samson, the son of the bloggers at wonderbliss.com and minorthird.com, who was born on February 24, 2006, with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
This is just one example. We’re looking for charities (though, not the “Donate to get Mel an iphone charity”) that are chosen by bloggers!

i’m not involved directly in either of these web sites, but i love the idea.
i’ve been researching the sad situation surrounding breastfeeding mothers at the moment, and found these sites and links, which could really use all the support we can give.
milk share
milk match
internationalbreastfeedingsymbol.org
or obviously any others along the same lines that you know of.
that’s my tupence worth

Okay! For the Bloggers Helping Bloggers pertion of the event - here is my nomination (I cannot believe I did not think of this immediately - but my reading on her site today really hit home):
http://www.kerikickscancer.com/
Keri is a friend of mine that now lives in Florida. In May of 2007 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and in July she had a double mastectomy along with the first stage of reconstructive surgery. She is now undergoing aggressive chemo and radiation. I just read today that finances are starting to become an issue. She is not able to work full time through all this and the co-pays and prescriptions are adding up. She could definitely use the help.
Her site is made private, for registered users only. I made you an account so that you can see that her story and site are legitimate. I will email you your login and password.
So that’s my nomination!
