Our Family
So, here I am, a girl born and raised on Long Island, married to a boy also born and raised on Long Island. We have three sweet kitties and one lunatic dog who run the show around here. But we wouldn't have it any other way.
We purchased a new home in North Carolina and moved south in December 2007. Smack dab in the middle of Charlotte and Greensboro, in a small quaint little town. Adjusting to "The South" has been interesting to say the least. We do love it here though and would never go back to NY.
How It Began
We met in a bar in the Fall of 1997. I was 21 and he was 25. We moved in together within 2 months. Everything about the very beginning of our relationship was fast. We kinda skipped the whole dating thing and went straight to commitment. We've had our ups and downs and ups and really big downs and gigantic ups and through it all, we still stand side by side. I know it sounds so cliche...I guess we're a cliche.
We were married on May 20th 2005, at a small little establishment in the same town and on the same lake where we met years before. It took us a long time to get to the "married place" but it truly is the most wonderful and amazing feeling. He really is my better half, my life partner, my very best friend. There is no one else in this world I would rather experience life with.
Our Business
We own a little web design studio, where we design and develop websites for bloggers and small business owners. Not only do we get to do something we absolutely love, but we get to do it together every single day.
First and foremost, I consider myself an artist. I love love love creating; oil paining, charcoal drawings, pencil sketches, carving pumpkins. Whatever it is, I love art. I love how it makes me feel when I'm creating, whether my hands are busy moving a mouse around or drenched in Azure Blue, I am one happy girl!
Our Kids
We don't have any human kids but that doesn't mean we don't have any kids. We are a family of six.
Kitty Stormy came to us in November 1999 and left us in May 2008. He was our baby boy and we love him so much. We miss him every single day and he'll always be a part of our family.
Kitty Windy found us on December 31, 2005. She has quite the personality and seems to love everyone. Most days you will find her lounging around the house or sunbathing in front of the sliding glass door in the kitchen.
Next came our dog...Dew Drops or Dewey, The Dew, The Dewster, Dew Pile, Dew Ball, Baller. He is just precious. We adopted him on December 28, 2007 and we've been quite smitten ever since. He is extremely loyal and very smart. He's currently learning his A, B, C's and colors. He loves chasing all the cats around the house and going for very long, vigorous walks. He's a working dog, so he requires a lot of attention and well, work.
Kitty Misty found us in May 2008. She arrived on our back patio out of nowhere it seems. After much begging and pleading with Sean, we started to feed her and give her water everyday. And she never went away. Eventually, Sean and I struck a deal, and Misty came to live with us on June 12, 2008.
On June 14, 2008, Misty gave birth to 5 kittens. Unfortunately four of them didn't make it. It was a very difficult time for us. We lost Stormy just days later. We had no intention on keeping any of the kittens, but after losing 4 of them and Stormy, Sean and I agreed that the little guy who made it was a fighter and we had to keep him. And so, Twister made us a family of 6.
We admit, we love him bunches. He's really hard not to love. He's very affectionate and gets along great with all the other kids. Life doesn't always work out the way you expect it to and sometimes there are these wonderful surprises.
This Blog
This blog is a chronicle of my life, the good the bad and every little thing in between. Sometimes I blog about experiences (past and present), sometimes I blog about design stuff that interests me, sometimes I blog about my addictions to pumpkin, Lysol, Smarties, M&M's and Chapstick.
It's all in how I'm feeling and what is going on in my day to day life. This blog has been a source of therapy for me in a lot of ways. It has also connected me with some great people I probably never would have found. I'm here to get shit off my chest, to be silly, to have fun, to blog man. Because really, It's JUST A FUCKING BLOG!! You will probably either like it or hate it. I like it, so it works for me.
