Year Three

May 20, 2008

Happy 3rd Anniversary!Three years ago today, the best thing happened to me.  I married my best friend.  The past three years have been honestly the best of my life.  I wonder how we got to be so lucky, so in love.  We fight, sure.  We love harder.

This morning during breakfast Sean said to me..

“We never would have thought three years ago that we would be sitting in our house, at our kitchen table, looking out to our backyard, eating some eggs for breakfast.”

What will three more years bring?

Or ten? Or twenty?

I’m looking forward to finding out smile

Happy Anniversary babe.  I love you.

Our Family Portrait (sorta)

May 14, 2008

About a month and a half ago, I commissioned Ms. Erika Jones to paint a family portrait of three three kids.  I didn’t want the typical portrait, instead I asked for something playful with blues and greens.  Something where the kids were in their “natural” state…which basically means Windy and Dewey playing while Stormy watches from the sidelines.  Something fun and whimsical and filled with happiness!  I absolutely adore Erika’s work and I knew with just a few words she would take what I had to say and make a brilliant piece of art.

Last night she sent over a photo of our completed painting and I just have to say that it is perfect in every single way.  She totally captured each one of them.  We love it and I can’t wait for it to arrive so I can marvel at it’s beauty in person.

Why I love my husband: Reason 5,488

May 11, 2008

When I walked into my office this morning, I found a “MOMMY” card propped up against my monitor.  I am sure I squeed out loud a lot!  cheese

From the short hairy kid with(out) a tail!

Damn, he knows just how to make my heart melt!

How’d they know?

May 08, 2008

Erica posted a link to “How I Spent my Stimulus” on twitter.  It’s a neat little site.  And it’s interesting to see how people spent that little extra wad of cash.

And also, How did they know?  cheese

I kid. I kid.

Okay, okay…now that I have regained some of my composure, I can let you all know that there seems to be no residual effects from THE TICK! and I should be just fine.

I completely admit that I overreacted, but HELLO!  There was a LIVE BUG STUCK TO MY HEAD and in no world where I live will I ever be fine with that.  Ever!

I’ve never had a tick on me before, at least to my knowledge.  A few weeks ago we found one on Dewey which was pretty easy to remove and we then started him on Frontline and haven’t seen anything since.  I wonder if they make some sort of Frontline for human beings because that might just come in handy here in the country.  If all else fails, my neighbors are going to be seeing me sporting this bad boy while gardening and I won’t even care.

OMG!  I FOUND A TICK ON ME!

May 06, 2008

I was just sitting in my office getting ready to head to the shower and start my evening.  I pulled my pony tail out and ran my fingers through my hair when I felt a little bump.  I immediately flew into the game room to get Sean…

“I need you NOW”

“I’m in the middle of Grand Theft”

“NOW I HAVE A TICK ON ME AND I NEED YOUR HELP NOW!”

“Hold on a”

“NOW! NOW! NOW! I MEAN RIGHT NOW!”

He swung his head to the door and must have seen how serious I was and he threw down the controller and followed me into the bathroom where he confirmed my fear.  The bump was indeed a tick.  A tick which is now very dead and very much down the toilet, though thinking back on this, we should have kept it and had it analyzed because I NEVER GOING TO SLEEP AGAIN until I know if I have some deadly disease.

Never!

Patience.  I have none.

So, about that rain.  Didn’t happen.  Didn’t even come close to happening.  Which meant I went out and planted my herb garden.

I have to admit that I was super excited.  HERBS!  Fresh from the garden!  Right outside our kitchen door!

After all the sweating and moaning and cursing, it was done.  And I stepped back and looked at my garden.

Planted Herb Garden

Pretty freaking boring.  All that work and it looks like, well dirt.  Dirt which has seeds in it.  That’s something!

Now I will check it every hour to see if anything has sprouted.  There are worse obsessions, no?

Tempting the weather gods

May 03, 2008

This week went so fast and it seems like all I did was work work work yet I found myself two days behind (or so).  This morning I finished off the last of it (a blog design) and sent it off for review.  Then I sat here for a moment and contemplated what to do next.  The first thought was to work on my new blog design (which has been in the works for oh like 6 months) or garden.  It’s cool this morning and overcast and perfect.

GARDEN!

I just checked the weather forecast to make sure I didn’t have a repeat of last week where I started my herb garden and about half way through we had torrential rain.

I am afraid I might be headed for the same outcome today.  According to weather.com it shouldn’t start until 4pm which would give me plenty of time. But when are the weather people every right?

Plus I could be in for a situation where all my seeds wash away if we get the heavy rain like we did last week.  Ahh, I don’t know what to do.

These Litter Chests are such a neat idea.  We’ve been trying to come up with a plan for the litter box in our new house and this seems like it would be a perfect fit.  Discreet, yet it does the job perfectly.  We’ll be adding this to our list of things to get for the new house.
